Rotary Rose 2018 recipient press release (portion):
“Celestine Darnell is a member of the Fort Payne Culture Club, Fort Payne Garden Club and is a Master Gardener. She’s also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, which is a professional society for women educators, and she is a volunteer at her church. “I’ve served from president to parliamentarian for all of those, plus committee work,” she said. Darnell said family and friends from college and around the state of Alabama visited her Tuesday to be a part of the Rotary Club event. She’s familiar with service groups, being a member of several herself, and having a husband, John, who is a member of the Lions Club.
“I ended my response thanking [The Rotary Club] for all they have done and all they are continuing to do in this community,” Darnell said. “I’m very aware of how much they serve and how much they give. It’s impressive when a group like that gives you recognition.
“I had never been to a Rotary Rose, but I looked at the list of all the other nominees through the years, and they are wonderful ladies and when you’ve been placed it that group, it’s just beyond words.” – by Bradley Roberts Jun 27, 2018, Times Journal, Fort Payne, AL

The Arc of DeKalb County Christmas Party
Fort Payne Rotary Club organizes and hosts an annual Christmas Party for The ARC of DeKalb County. We invite Santa Clause and ensure that all residents receive at least 5 presents which are selected and bought by fellow Rotarians. The residents and employees of ARC enjoys a great Christmas dinner as members of the Fort Payne Rotary and community leaders serve their tables. This was accomplished even during COVID with special protocols and was thoroughly enjoyed by both resident employees and Rotarians.
